"The 144" Project

Several months ago, while I was recording some new material, I began receiving very specific information from my guides regarding a project I was to begin. They told me that in 2010 the potential would exist to help mankind through what they called 'a bump'. I have not been given dates or what this 'bump' would be but they did tell me if I was to assemble a group of healers and that each would provide a particular sound, a sound with intent that collectively would have a profound effect as we move with the changes taking place on our beloved planet.

Profound effect? Sounds from people around the world? This all seemed very vague until I asked the question "OK. How many of these healers and sounds are we talking here? Sounds like a lot of work?". "144" came back. Kind of like an arbitrary number which didn't have any meaning for me. I Googled 144 grasping at straws to give my mind some sort of confirmation. Nothing stuck out. Keen for an answer I asked my friend Michele "Does the number 144 mean anything to you?". "Yes..The 144,000". According to Wikipedia:

"Significant number in the Mayan calendar. It represents a cycle of time named Baktun"

"The numbers 12,000 and 144,000 are variously interpreted in traditional Christianity. Some, taking the numbers in Revelation to be symbolic believe it represents all of God's people throughout history in the heavenly Church. Others insist the numbers 12,000 and 144,000 are literal numbers and that the 144,000 people who are either descendants of Jacob (also called Israel in the Bible) or who God has given a specifically superior destiny to have a distinct role at the time of the end of the world."

Whoa! So what now?

THE PLAN SO FAR....

After various discussions with fellow sound healers and a large amount of exploring existing and available technology and all the time receiving guidance, I have come up with a basic plan. Maybe you can help? Maybe you know someone who can?

1. SOUNDS - It is not specific. A tone, a word, a single sound that resonates the intent of the giver. I am currently developing web pages that will enable gathering and processing sounds that can be used for collaborative projects for everyone taking part.
   
   
2. HEALING - Composing and Producing a Global Healing piece combining sounds from submissions. A multimedia widget will be designed combining colour and sacred geometry to allow everyone to share the healing.
   
   
3. INTERFACE - Readily accessible technology now allows real-time interpretation of sound frequencies into usable information via an internet based application. My goal is to generate dynamically generated visual imagery thus providing healing through colour and movement as well. Although I have been working earnestly with some of this technology with software such as Adobe Flash, the learning curve is high and some help to advance this part of the project would really get things moving.
   
   
4. SHARE - Develop a web site/portal that allows the selection of individual sounds to be sent to someone else who then adds their sound (or just partake by listening) creating essentially an evolving sound clip. Sound clips can then be joined depending on requirements. This is wonderfully suited to social networking tools such as Twitter. Paths of these sounds as they bounce from person to person will be plotted on an interactive map using rainbows (sounds and harmonics created by combining sounds will do this), creating an ever expanding web of sound and light.
   
   
5. EXPAND - Develop additional functionality to allow web based sound recording and the possibilities for things such as Bio-Acoustic profiling. Live healing and interaction with anyone, anywhere is quite definitely reality.

I am constantly reminded of the simplicity of nature and have often asked myself how something relatively simple could have such an impact. The short answer....I don't know! At this point just trusting spirit and knowing it has always been an abundant source of surprises. We are ALL part of this grand experiment. Not knowing is half the fun!

DNAture - Music for the Shift

You are listening to my debut album DNAture. Six sonic canvases tell the story of my personal journey within the sounds and forms of Nature and our interconnectedness with the physical, spiritual and metaphysical worlds. Each of the compositions, generally speaking, were written very quickly with help of Spirit but collectively over a period of 6 months. They were part of a very deep healing process I went through in that particular chapter of my life. What literally poured from me what I now know were the tools for my own expansion and healing and in doing so has been helpful to many others as well. It has been a catalyst for many new discoveries of creation and assisting others in their own healing and expansion. Sounds for the collective shift I am being gently reminded as this is typed.

Here's a little bit of background on each track on the album.

Oasis

I had a dream about waking up in the desert. Like a child awakening from deep slumbers within the Earth I was aware of hearing the sound of the wind as each grain of sand was blown gently from my face revealing the sky to my vision. The most beautiful dawn hues painted the heavens. As I stood up, slowly becoming aware of my physical body, I started to run towards something. Not running out of wanting to be anywhere in particular, but running out of purpose and with great determination to take part in something very beautiful somewhere amongst the sands of time. Oasis is my painting of this dream. In writing the piece, it was a great healing for me. A sort of inner rebirth that gave me a lot of strength (and determination) to follow my bliss so to speak. It is also one of my favorites to play live for it's energy and grounding spirit. A good one for starting the day with.

As if a Leaf

To surrender to the flow of life and all the bumps and snags along the way. All the while a beautiful journey. This was the first piece I ever wrote using basic digital recording. At the time I was going through a personal hell. Anxiety attacks. Stressed out of my skull. Depressed. Financial worries. Not a very happy time at all when you are stuck playing the game of fear and drama. But when I sat down one day. This is what flowed as did my life all of a sudden after receiving this particular healing. Many have commented to me on the amazing thing's they've seen while contemplating this piece. Crystalline forms on other planets; Life forms on Earth. Past, present and future. It's like a constantly evolving looking glass using sound. Every time I listen to this I become the observer just as I did when I first heard the recording session playback.

The Canyon

A New Zealand summer is not a New Zealand summer without the sound of Cicadas. That raw saw tooth sound akin to me of the Shaman's rattle. This was more a piece of fancy inspired by the sounds of nature amongst high walls of rock, stone and flat, calm water. I particularly love the emulated cicada type sounds of the synthesizer in this piece. Very retro synth. Very calming, cleansing and uplifting.

Mantra

I began to notice my breathing. And how this was like the action of a wave. I'm particularly fond of the Indian Tanpura and it's ability to carry other sounds like a wave through out the body. At the time I had been working with recordings of crystal singing bowls and found that using one particular sound as type of multi-stringed instrument was allowing great amounts of movement in all energy centers. This composition worked out great for grounding, centering and having a moment of self.

Prayer

One night I had an incredible urge to write. I had the doors of my little studio open and all I could see was stars. All I could hear was summer crickets and the odd Native Owl. There was an overwhelming sense of despair I felt in humanity that came through me like a wave. But overshadowing this was the feeling of hope and compassion. Like the voice of a child, and in hind sight a middle eastern voice at that, Prayer was what I recorded that night. When I awoke later that same morning I was to learn the US had invaded Iraq. On reflection now. What I felt at the time was a quick, loving and peaceful passing of many souls and their gratitude for having been incarnated here. It was like a big ball of light immediately took form to replace the darkness that was about to be played out. This is going home music and seems to be great for the throat and heart chakras particularly in working with our individual truth, grief or working through personal change. My most honored composition and personal favorite.

Sunrise

When I first released DNAture as a limited run CD here in New Zealand I was working on a soundtrack for a commercial DVD project for a friend. This piece evolved over a period 6 hours locked in a Hotel room in downtown Auckland. There was nothing in this room or it's view to inspire me. Only an image of the sunrise I had enjoyed while taking the long drive down the coast to the city that morning. I love this piece. When ever I hear it I am bathed in that warm new light, hope and purpose each rising sun brings and decided to include it in the digital release of DNAture for everyone to enjoy.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I'm a creative odd fellow living in the Central North Island of New Zealand. My loves and passions are: writing and producing music that uplifts the human spirit and gives people hopefully a small taste of our 'coming home'. I love performing live; designing, building, and tinkering with organic, electronic and hybrid musical instruments. I enjoy using recycled tech, video and my geek skills to create engaging and emmersive multimedia productions in my live performances. "Cleverly disguised new age / world / electronica with a surreptitious sound healing vibe."

A seasoned performer, I have played festivals and sold-out headline shows in NZ with help from many multitalented and creative friends. My intent is to take my music, instruments and live performance visions outside of NZ with a particular interest in traveling/performing and recording throughout Australia, US and India. I'm into all aspects of putting on an engaging multimedia show and am working on new material which explores emmersive sound and light technologies allowing audiences to interact with what is happening on stage. I like performing faithful renditions of some of the great classic electronica artists such as Jean Michel Jarre as well as interpretations of well know New Age and Classical music. I'm equally engaged with others creatively as I am creating in the studio or my workshop at home.
